Where is Jerusalem located? Good question!
Many wonder where it is located, and are amazed to learn that the location of Jerusalem is where 3 continents meet - Asia, Africa and Europe. This makes the Jerusalem location unique!
Israel is located in the Middle East. Israel resides near the Mediterranean sea, and has many beautiful beaches thanks to that. Naturally, its food is mainly Mediterranean and is really healthy and delicious because of that.
Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and is one of the oldest and holiest cities in the world. It is 3,000 years old. Jerusalem is located pretty much in the center of Israel - it is located in the Judean Mountains, between the Mediterranean Sea and the Dead Sea. Jerusalem has a population of over 750,000 residents and there are residents of all religions here - Jews, Christians and Muslims (and other of course).
It's elevation is about 800 meters above sea level. It is 70 kilometers south-east of Tel Aviv (which means that it is not a long ride from the Ben Gurion Air Port - Israel's international airport that is located just near Tel Aviv (there is no international airport in Jerusalem).
Jerusalem's central location makes it ideal for many locals and tourists as it is close to many attractions in Israel: Tel Aviv (50 minutes drive), the Dead Sea (1 hour drive), the Judean desert (45 minutes drive), Masada (around 1 hour drive) and more. It is not too far from the Galilee either (well, Israel is a small country after all....)
It's central location makes it easy to get to Jerusalem from anywhere else in the country. Public transportation to Jerusalem is very good and there is a bus coming here from every central bus station in the country (it's our capital city after all), and you can also get here by car, taxi cab and even by train from Tel Aviv (although the train ride is very long (about 2.5 hours!). They are working on a fast train to Jerusalem which will take half an hour, but it won't be ready for another few years.
Flights from Europe take between 2-5 hours (2 hours from Greece, 5 from the UK), depending on the departure location, and about 11 hours from the USA east coast and from East Canada.
So now that you know where is Jerusalem - come and visit us! :)
